About Dan Rattner

Dan RattnerD.M. Rattner & Associates was founded in 1997 by Daniel M. Rattner. Dan embarked on his consulting career after over 20 years of managing complex organizations and issues in the public and private sectors. He has an established reputation as a leader in the fields of Corporate Security management, Homeland Security, and public sector/private sector partnerships.  He is a frequent speaker on these topics and has assisted many organizations in enhancing organizational effectiveness through improved process efficiency and enhanced linkage between operational functions and strategic organizational priorities.

Following 12 years in operational and analytical roles in the Central Intelligence Agency, Dan began his private sector career in 1988 at Lotus Development Corporation. During his tenure at Lotus, Dan had worldwide operational management responsibilities in the areas of Security and Risk Management, Real Estate and Facilities, Travel, and a number of other Corporate Services functions. After Lotus, Dan led the Corporate Services and Administration organizations for a number of high profile companies including NerveWire, a management consulting and systems integration firm, Nets Inc., an early B2B e-commerce company, and Polaroid Corporation. In his consulting role, Dan has worked with a broad range of public and private sector clients on a variety of projects involving both program development, organizational strategy, and resource management. Since September 2001, Dan has focused much of his attention on helping to develop leading edge programs in the areas of Public Safety, Homeland Security and public sector/private sector cooperation.   In 2005 and 2006, Dan served as Senior Advisor for Homeland Security and Public Safety in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety, where he coordinated several initiatives related to regional intelligence sharing and public sector/private sector partnerships.

 In addition to his consulting activities, Dan has a dual appointment as Visiting Scholar in the College of Professional Studies and College of Criminal Justice at Northeastern University in Boston.

Dan’s past and present professional affiliations include the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Police Executive Research Forum, Association of Former Intelligence Officers, International Security Management Association, American Society for Industrial Security, Massachusetts Security and Law Enforcement Executive Forum (co-founder), Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency Business and Industry Committee, Boston Police Private Sector Advisory Committee, Risk and Insurance Management Society, US Department of Justice Private Sector Technology Policy Advisory Committee, and New York Police Department Technology Advisory Committee.

Dan obtained both his Bachelors and Masters degrees from George Washington University.

Dan possesses an active US Government security clearance.

In addition to his professional activities, Dan currently serves as Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Central New England chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
